Crews were responding Wednesday morning to a boat underwater in Lake Michigan.
About 8 a.m., at least one boat could be seen off of 31st Beach in Chicago in Lake Michigan towing another boat that appeared to be underwater. The rescue boat appeared to be from Tow Boat US, video captured by NBC Chicago showed.
The U.S. Coast Guard said it was not involved in the recovery, but believes it could be in connection to a sunken vessel incident that occurred July 5.
In that incident, four people aboard the boat were rescued by a nearby Good Samaritan, the U.S. Coast Guard said, who brought them aboard their vessel, and then safely back to shore.
NBC Chicago reached out to the Chicago Fire Department and the Chicago Police Department, both of which confirmed they were not at the scene.
