A 71-year-old woman has died and her 26-year-old son was critically hurt after they were struck by an allegedly drunk driver in suburban Geneva.

According to Geneva police, the woman was driving southbound in the 1000 block of South Randall Road at approximately 9:13 p.m. Saturday when the crash occurred.

It is alleged a 40-year-old man was driving a Chevrolet Camaro in the northbound lanes when he veered across the double-yellow line, striking the victim’s vehicle head-on.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Her son was taken to a local hospital and was later airlifted to a Chicago hospital, where he was listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
