AUBURN, N.Y. — On Friday, New York State Police said they arrested a Cayuga County Sheriff’s deputy after an investigation into a sexual relationship he had with a minor.
Police say Hunter R. Lawrence of the Town of Auburn, 25, was arrested and charged.
Investigators reported that Lawrence had multiple sexual encounters with someone under the age of 17. The victim was at different ages across their meetings, leading to multiple charges, police added.
He was charged with two counts of rape in the second degree, two counts of rape in the third degree, and endangering the welfare of a child.
He was taken to Cortland County Jail for arraignment, and police say the investigation is ongoing.
