ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A fundraiser was held Friday night for a Rochester bar that went up in flames earlier this week.
Lux Lounge in the South Wedge was badly damaged in a fire. Jack’s Extra Fancy on Atlantic Avenue held a fundraiser party to support Lux staff until the bar can reopen.
Jack’s was packed Friday night. News10NBC asked patrons what they remember most fondly about Lux.
“The camaraderie, the trust and the simple down-home fun,” John said.
“Their bathrooms! They’re incredible, have you ever seen them? I shared it on TikTok,” Bonfiglio said.
“These fundraisers are what’s going to help us keep afloat and keep moving forward until we can actually open our doors. So, this is really important and I can’t be more grateful. I love these people so much,” said Karrie Laughton, owner of Lux Lounge.
Laughton expects to start clearing out the burned upstairs next week. She expects repairs to take at least two months, but there is no word on when Lux will reopen.
