ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A Yellow Alert continues into the start of the Holiday weekend as we track several rounds of storms. The high heat is behind us at this point, but our attention turns to storms. A cluster of gusty storms this evening move through, with a lull and drier, quieter weather into the first part of the overnight. Then, another cluster of storms will move in after midnight. Despite being the middle of the night, a few stronger storms with gusty winds are possible. Don’t be surprised if some thunder and lightning wake you up.
Saturday will also feature several rounds of rain and storms. The greatest chance of strong storms looks to be in the Finger Lakes, but everybody has a good chance of a storm or two. So keep the First Alert Weather app handy. You can check radar and get updates right from our weather team. If you see the sky getting dark and hear thunder, you’ll want to be able to get to some shelter. If all goes well, the bulk of the rain and any storms should be south of our area by evening, which means we should be dry for fireworks displays (fingers crossed!). This is a tricky forecast as far as timing goes, so be sure to check back in for updates.
Sunday will see some showers, mainly south of our area. But a little wet weather may try to sneak in later in the day. Monday look wet at times with some thunder, followed by improving and quieter weather into much of next week.
