ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHEC) – Jaden Bradley is in the midst of a very busy time in his life. On June 24, he was drafted 50th overall by the Toronto Raptors. On July 9, NBA Summer League starts up as Bradley will look to prove himself in Las Vegas amongst other rookies looking for spots on the team.
But Bradley was still able to fit in some community service in his schedule.
The Rochester native stopped by the Rochester Boys and Girls Club on Thursday, a place he used to attend and still goes back to to catch up with old friends. This time around, he read a book, signed autographs, and gave advice to kids once in his shoes.
“You got great staff members that really care about ya’ll and I want the best for ya’ll, so once thing I will say is make sure you’re asking questions,” Bradley told the room full of kids eager to hear his message.
“It means the world to me to have this platform,” said Bradley. “I remember when I was younger, having older people come back and do the same thing.”
Now, Bradley is one of the coolest figures one can look up to, having completed his dream of making it to the NBA.
“I’m still trying to process it all in right now,” said Bradley. “Just a true blessing hearing my name called on that night.”
As Bradley’s dream is just getting started, kids at the Boys and Girls Club know they can do it too after seeing his story come to fruition.
