A body found in the Fox River in a Chicago suburb has been identified as a suburban mom.
The Kane County Coroner’s office revealed Thursday that the woman pulled from the water in St. Charles Township Wednesday evening was identified as a 41-year-old mother from St. Charles, Amanda Flick.
Flick’s death remains the subject of an investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s office.
A preliminary cause of death was listed as drowning, “pending toxicology.” The coroner’s office said toxicology samples were being sent for “extensive testing” at a national forensic laboratory.
“Kane County Coroner, Dr. Monica Silva, extends deepest condolences to the family and friends of Amanda Flick during this incredibly difficult time. The investigation into the death remains ongoing,” the coroner’s office said in a release.
The situation was first reported to the sheriff’s office around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, the department said.
The incident marks the latest in a string of deaths reported in bodies of water around the Chicago area, and the latest in the Fox River alone.
Just in 2026, NBC Chicago journalists have spoken to police about more than a dozen death investigations, from Elk Grove Village to Aurora to Elgin to Schaumburg to even downtown Chicago.
In late June, a missing teen’s body was pulled from the Fox River in Elgin.
