Two University of Alabama students were killed Wednesday morning in a fire near Evergreen in Conecuh County. The students, Mark “McNeil” Mostellar, aged 21, and James “Walter” Hensley, aged 19, were both business majors and members of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity.
The Conecuh County Fire Marshal said that crews were called to the scene of a fire at 2:00 a.m. Wednesday. Mostellar and Hensley were pronounced dead on scene. Two others, whose identities have not been revealed by authorities, were hospitalized with injuries.
The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fire.
The Evergreen Police Department told AL.com that no more information was being released at this time “out of respect for the families involved and to protect the integrity of the investigation.”
“The Evergreen Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones affected by this tragic loss,” the department said.
