Shawn Carrier
Carrier is a 19-year-old left-winger taken in the seventh round by Colorado. There is one big connection with him and the Avs: he played in the QJMHL with the Halifax Mooseheads.
In 61 regular-season games, he scored 37 goals and recorded 28 assists. In four playoff games, he also added two assists.

Even with the scoring, he is also a speedy forechecker who can help create scoring chances. He will attend Boston University in 2027, with an additional year to get even better with the Mooseheads.
Ondrej Ruml
Ruml was taken in the seventh round as a left-handed defender from the Czech Republic. The 18-year-old defenseman stands six feet tall and weighs 172 pounds.
Ruml moved to North America to play for the first time last season with the Ottawa 67’s. In 66 games, he scored 10 goals and dished out 18 assists. He also added an assist in nine playoff games.

He also found some success during international play with the Czechs. In 21 games with the U18 team, he put up 16 assists.
Ruml fits the mold of a mobile defenseman who can join the rush and move the puck. Overall, he’s a solid all-around defender who can develop into something even better for Colorado.
Alexandre Raymond
Raymond was the Avs’ final pick in the seventh round, taken right after Ruml. Raymond is a big, 18-year-old, 6-foot-4 goaltender joining the goaltending pool of prospects.
He spent last season in the QMJHL with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. In 18 games, he had a 7–4–4 record with a 2.09 goals-against average and .914 save percentage.
Unfortunately for Raymond, he spent most of the season as a backup and will look to develop into a bigger role. He’ll have time to do so with several other goaltenders ahead of him in the organization.
In the end, the Avalanche used nine of their possible 10 draft picks to restock the prospect pool. They also made more moves, such as trading away Ivan Ivan for Fabian Lysell.
Time will tell to see how these guys pan out, with some likely getting started with Development Camp coming up next week. All in all, Colorado kept busy and still has plenty to sort out heading into the start of free agency next week as well.
