ROCHESTER, N.Y. – We’re heading into the weekend and we’re looking pretty good! Skies will clear overnight, but we may see some areas of fog developing, especially near the lake. Saturday should be mainly dry with temperatures in the mid 70s. There’s the slight chance of a brief passing shower, but most of the area, and most of the day should be dry. Sunday also looks very nice, with highs in the upper 70s and a mostly sunny sky. Dew points will remain in the lower 60s, which will make for comfortable conditions for any outdoor activities.
That will start to change next week. A big ridge building over the central US will slowly creep eastward, allowing heat and humidity to build across the eastern Great Lakes. Highs on Monday will be seasonable, with a mostly sunny sky and dew points in the 60s. But dew points start to rise on Tuesday.
Tuesday looks like our transition day between comfortably warm and starting to turn uncomfortable/dangerous. Air temperatures begin to climb into the lower 90s by Wednesday, with dew points possibly well into the 70s. That would produce a heat index in the upper 90s or even triple digits. We’ll monitor the heat potential closely for next week.
