Locals were wined, dined and inclined to support the arts at a June 20 benefit seeking funding to transform a former Pacific Beach library site into a community arts hub.

“Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of attendees, sponsors and matching donors, the event raised $185,000 to support the renovation efforts of the Pacific Beach Arts Center,” event chair Jennifer Tandy said. She noted that the total included matching gifts from the Mark and Karla Stuart Charitable Fund and Barbara H. Allison.

“We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, donated, sponsored and volunteered,” Tandy said. “The overwhelming support for our capital campaign will help the Pacific Beach Arts Center become a reality. This response shows our community’s commitment to preserving a cherished landmark while creating a vibrant new home for arts, culture and connection.”

The sold‑out event, titled “An Evening for the Arts,” was held at the Soledad Club. The fundraiser featured dinner, drinks, live music, a fine art gallery, a live auction and a raffle.
