It’s going to be a Bear-y holiday season this Christmas.
While fans were already excited about the team’s Christmas Day matchup against the Green Bay Packers, a new kind of holiday appearance is coming.
Hallmark announced Thursday the Bears “have been drafted” for this year’s NFL-themed holiday movie.
Titled “Holiday Touchdown: A Bears Love Story,” the film will mark the third movie in the sports-themed franchise.
“After the tremendous success of our first two Holiday Touchdown movies, we knew we wanted to continue the tradition by partnering with another iconic NFL franchise and fan base. The Chicago Bears have a rich history, passionate supporters, and a culture that extends far beyond the football field, making them a perfect fit for a heartwarming holiday story,” Darren Abbott, president and chief brand officer for Hallmark Media, said in a statement. “We can’t wait for audiences to experience this story and celebrate the passion and spirit that bring Bears fans together.”
According to the company and the Bears, the movie will premiere later in 2026 during the Hallmark Channel’s annual “Countdown to Christmas,” though an exact date has not yet been announced.
“We are honored, grateful and excited to join forces with Hallmark Media, Skydance Sports and NFL Films on this special project. As we continually look for ways to further the connection with our passionate Chicago Bears fans and amplify our global brand in creative ways, we will provide our club and our fans with the opportunity to grow together by creating a special, meaningful movie,” Kevin Warren, president and CEO of the Chicago Bears, said in a release. “We look forward to the work ahead alongside Hallmark Media, Skydance Sports and NFL Films, and we are energized for the product we will create together, celebrating football, family, the Chicago Bears and the holiday season.”
The announcement for the new movie was made with a video featuring Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson and tight end Colston Loveland.
“This one’s for fans and everybody who rides with us in Bear Nation,” Loveland said in the clip.
The company said production is expected to begin “this summer” and the movie will be filmed entirely in and around Chicago, “showcasing iconic locations, beloved traditions and the passion that surrounds one of the NFL’s most storied franchises.”
The cast is expected to be announced at a later date, but if previous movies in the franchise are any indication, it’s likely there will be some team cameos.
Previous movies in the NFL-themed Hallmark holiday lineup have included The Chiefs and The Bills.
