PITTSFORD, N.Y. — A new playground opened Wednesday morning at King’s Bend Park on West Jefferson Road, just in time for summer vacation.
The playground features ADA-accessible play structures designed for all ages and abilities and a new turf surface. It replaces the former aging playground at the park.
“The turf surface, it used to be wood chips. I know when I take my granddaughter to playgrounds I get these woodchips in my shoe, its very annoying, and so I know it’s a lot safer and a better surface for everyone when we have the turf,” said Pittsford Town Supervisor Bill Smith.
A state grant provided the bulk of the funds to make the playground possible.
