ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A historic Erie Canal boat is docked at Corn Hill Landing as part of a statewide voyage, and the public is invited to check it out.
The Seneca Chief arrived in Rochester on Thursday. The replica was built by more than 200 volunteers to honor the original boat that opened the Erie Canal in 1825.
“The Erie Canal helped shape Rochester’s identity and fueled the growth of our city,” said Patrick Russell-Walsh, executive director of Rochester By Water. “Having the Seneca Chief visit Corn Hill Landing provides an opportunity for our community to connect directly with the history that transformed Rochester into a center of commerce and innovation.”
You can visit the boat until 7 p.m. on Tuesday before it continues on its way back to Buffalo.
