Horse Tracks: ‘All it takes is one or two explosive plays’ ...Middle East

News by : (TOP world News today) -

Good morning, Broncos Country!

Former Broncos offensive tackle Tyler Polumbus told CBS Sports yesterday that Bo Nix has proven him wrong many times.

And for that, Polumbus counts himself a Boliever.

“He is on a great track. He has proven me wrong in a lot of areas, and he has been far better than I thought he was going to be,” Polumbus admitted. “And the big picture is nothing but extreme optimism with Bo Nix.”

That doesn’t mean there isn’t room for improvement, though, and Polumbus is really hoping Nix makes some strides in one particular area.

“The one missing step I’m hoping we see this season is ‘become a four-quarter player not a fourth-quarter player,’” Polumbus advised.

It’s a fair request. There is nothing I love more than a comeback win, and the Broncos have been making that their M.O. since every kid in America thought quick sand was a major life problem (thanks, Tarzan)!

But it would be nice occasionally to watch a game without one eye on the nearest defibrillator. Especially since the odds that Nix and the Broncos can remain on the winning side of so many come-from-behind victories is low. Just ask Patrick Mahomes.

So I’m with Polumbus on this one. Let’s start winning in the third quarter. Maybe even the second. Sometimes the boring, putting-the-game-away early approach is a good one.

“He’s unbelievable in the 4th quarter — unbelievable! — and you can’t take that away from anybody because he’s got poise and he’s not scared of the moment,” Polumbus added. “But we got to get better in the first, second and third quarter so it’s not so inconsistent.”

Amen, brother.

With the Broncos’ brutal slate of opponents this season, putting away anything early is highly unlikely, and a fourth-quarter comeback may become the unintended game plan once again.

And I will be 100% OK with that…as long as Nix keeps beating the odds.

Thankfully, he might have a secret weapon this season in Jaylen Waddle as all reports from minicamp show this trade was exactly what they thought it would be for Denver — explosive.

And Polumbus definitely believes that is on the horizon for the 2026 Broncos.

“All it takes is one or two explosive plays, and the game looks radically different,” he said. “If you can connect — not even necessarily on touchdowns — but if you can connect once a half on a 30- or 40-yarder to Jaylen Waddle, that changes scores, that changes everything for them.”

If Denver learned anything from all those comeback wins last season, it’s gotta be that momentum matters — and that could make Waddle even more crucial than just some big plays.

“My hope,” Polumbus said, “is that Jaylen Waddle is the missing piece for Denver.”

Mine too.
