CAIRO, June 22 (MENA) – Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty and Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah stressed the need to reach a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, ensure full and sustained humanitarian access.
They also rejected the displacement of Palestinians from their land, calling for advancing the implementation of the two-state solution, with an independent Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 borders and Al Quds (occupied East Jerusalem) as its capital, as the only viable path to achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
This came during a meeting held on Monday between the two ministers on the sidelines of the 165th ordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the ministerial level in the Jordanian capital, Amman.
The meeting reflected the deep-rooted historical and fraternal ties between Egypt and Kuwait and the continued momentum in bilateral relations at various levels.
Both ministers reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening cooperation in political, economic and investment fields, building on the positive outcomes of recent high-level visits and exchanges between the two countries.
They also underlined the importance of continued joint efforts to enhance bilateral frameworks and partnership relations, as well as the need to prepare effectively for the 14th session of the Egyptian-Kuwaiti Joint Committee, to be held in Kuwait in the coming period, in a manner that further advances cooperation between the two sides.
The two ministers exchanged views on recent regional developments, stressing the importance of intensified Arab consultation and coordination to address regional challenges, support security and stability, and strengthen the ability of Arab states to respond collectively to shared crises.
They also underscored the importance of maintaining the security and stability of the Gulf as an integral part of Arab national security, and reaffirmed the commitment to the principles of good-neighborliness, respect for state sovereignty, and non-interference in the internal affairs of states.
