At least one person was injured when a vehicle slammed into a firetruck on a Chicago expressway early Saturday morning, authorities said.
The incident was reported at around 1:55 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 290 near California Avenue. Illinois State Police said a Chicago Fire Department firetruck was on the shoulder with a vehicle from a previous crash when a white Lexus struck the front of the firetruck and a white Toyota.
One person was transported to an area hospital with injuries. Their condition wasn’t immediately known.
All eastbound lanes were shutdown but have since reopened.
