PERINTON, N.Y. — A Macedon couple welcomed twins on the side of Route 31 in Perinton after mom went into labor on the way to the hospital.
Danielle Hickman said although she wasn’t due for another five weeks, when her water broke Wednesday morning, she knew she needed to act fast. The couple eventually had to pull over when contractions intensified.
Her husband Matt ended up having to deliver their first baby, Noah, before first responders got there. The couple spoke with News10NBC about their experience.
“I did not feel right, I felt a lot of pressure and I think I need to push, so we pull over and he calls 911,” Danielle Hickman said.
“Just talking with dispatch, they’re asking what I was seeing, I say nothing right now and before you know it, a couple of minutes later, I’m holding a baby in my arms,” Matt Hickman said.
The Perinton Ambulance team then helped deliver the second twin, Parker. He was in the breech position.
Mom, dad and both babies are doing well at Highland Hospital.
