A man who was rescued by emergency responders at Montrose Harbor along Lake Michigan died on Friday, authorities said.
Chicago police said at around 4:22 p.m., marine unit personnel responded to the area – in the 4500 block of North Simonds Drive – for a marine distress call.
Authorities said a man jumped into the water at Montrose Harbor didn’t resurface. Marine unit personnel arrived on the scene and pulled the victim from the water. He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and later pronounced dead.
As of Friday evening, the man hadn’t been identified.
An investigation is underway.
