The previous record stood at a 23.61 from Sjostrom back from the 2023 World Championships.

She now climbs to the top in the event.
This marks Douglass’s first LCM individual World Record. She is slated to swim the event later this summer at Pan Pacs, along with the 100 free, 100 breast, 200 breast, and 50 butterfly.
In addition to Douglass moving up in the all-time rankings, Gretchen Walsh was under the previous American Record that she also held with Douglass. Walsh touched in a 23.78 to become the #5 performer all-time.
Just last night, Douglass told media that she had not been too impressed by her swims so far in Indianapolis, despite wins in the 200 IM (2:07.04) and 200 breast (2:21.65).
