WEBSTER, N.Y. — A protest took place outside Webster’s Town Board meeting Thursday night in favor of the Pride flag.
People gathered outside the town hall on Ridge Road to rally against the town’s decision to remove the Pride flag from its flagpole. Organizers said the protest was supposed to be larger but was scaled back due to the weather.

One protester, Nathan, said he’s not even from Webster but felt strongly enough about the issue to show up.
“I think everybody deserves to feel welcome, to feel safe, to feel accepted in our community. We’re one giant melting pot and that’s what I served my country for all them years ago,” Nathan said.
A seven-piece band came to perform outside the town hall, dressed as the Pride flag, in support of the protest. The town board was holding a meeting during the protest, where they voted to temporarily shut down a motel with a bad reputation.
