YATES COUNTY, N.Y. — Yates County Sheriff’s deputies say two people on paddleboards were rescued from Seneca Lake Thursday after not being able to make it back to shore.

Deputies say at around 2:20 p.m. Thursday, the Sheriff’s Office’s Marine Patrol was activated following a report of two people on paddleboards in the middle of Seneca Lake not able to make it back to shore due to high winds.

Both were safely rescued by Marine Patrol and were uninjured.

Deputies want to remind everyone using local waterways to check weather conditions before entering the water regardless of the size or type of watercraft.
