For 2026, Juneteenth falls on Friday, June 19. As it is a federal holiday, many businesses will be closed, but other events and activities are open, including some Chicago museums offering free admission.
In Chicago, several Juneteenth celebrations are taking place, including in Evanston, Aurora and at the DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center. Other events in the city over the weekend are also planned.

The U.S. Postal Service will be closed on June 19, and there will be no mail deliveries.

The Federal Reserve System and the New York Stock Exchange will be closed on Friday, June 19.
