Melio has launched an agent-powered B2B payment network that enables buyers to pay suppliers through their accounts receivable (AR) systems, without requiring suppliers to onboard to a new portal or payment network.
The network enables agents to log into supplier billing and AR systems, identify each supplier’s preferred payment methods, execute payments using those methods, and automatically return structured remittance data, the company said in a Wednesday (June 17) press release.
Aharon Levine, vice president of payments strategy at Melio, said the new B2B payment network eliminates the need to build a rail or sign suppliers up one at a time.
“With agents, suppliers no longer have to join a network for the network to reach them,” Levine said. “Buyers can execute payments with full auditability and less manual work, while suppliers receive faster payments with remittance data already attached.”
The agentic network has processed more than 30,000 payments and over $100 million in annualized payment volume, per the release.
Melio is a Xero company that operates as a standalone platform while leveraging Xero’s global scale, the release said.

Xero acquired Melio in June 2025 for $2.5 billion.
Matan Bar, CEO of Melio and Xero U.S., said in March that the payments landscape is complex but vital for small businesses.

PYMNTS reported in February that because B2B payments are repetitive, data-rich and historically manual, they represent exactly the sort of environment where AI should shine.
The report added that the technology’s most powerful impact may be in automating accounts payable and receivable. AP and AR are still riddled with manual steps such as matching invoices to purchase orders, resolving exceptions, chasing discrepancies and prioritizing collections, and AI excels at this kind of probabilistic, pattern-heavy work.
