OGDEN, N.Y. — A former Ogden Police officer and Orleans County deputy is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday morning after pleading guilty to threatening an FBI agent’s family.

Steven Ploof of Greece pleaded guilty to federal charges after investigators said he left two signs with threatening and vulgar messages at an FBI agent’s porch in Ogden last September.

He also pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment charges and is serving a one-year sentence in Monroe County Jail. Police say that Ploof tried to attack officers in Greece in September, then escaped from Rochester General Hospital while being evaluated, putting the hospital on lockdown.

Ploof’s federal charges carry a maximum penalty of six years in prison and a fine of $250,000. Check back for updates.
