Though the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago opens to the public this week, anyone who hasn’t yet scored tickets will have to wait at least a few months to see what it has to offer.
That’s because tickets to the Obama Presidential Center Museum — that include access to all four floors of the museum, the Oval Office and the Sky Room — are sold out until November.
The Obama Foundation’s website listed tickets to the museum from opening day on June 19 through Nov. 30, though only 17 dates in November have available slots left as of June 17. All dates prior to November are booked solid.
The tickets are sold on a timed-entry basis, so each date has several slots to choose from. The morning and earlier afternoon tickets appear to be booking up the fastest.
Those hoping to plan a trip can sign up for updates on museum tickets, program and event announcements to ensure they’re alerted when new ticket dates come up.
The center is set to host a grand opening event on Thursday, one day before the public opening, to mark the culmination of more than a decade of work to bring the facility to life.
Tickets for the grand opening event are also already sold out, but those hoping to still watch the event can catch it on a live stream offered by NBC Chicago from 8-10:30 a.m. on the NBC Chicago 24/7 streaming channel and our app. Beginning at 10:30 a.m., coverage will appear on television as well, continuing through 1 p.m.
Telemundo Chicago will also offer a live stream of the event in Spanish from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Telemundo Chicago app.
