Tide Swimming’s Dara Duffy has announced her commitment to Louisiana State University as a member of the Tiger women’s 2026 recruiting class.
Duffy hails from Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she recently wrapped up her career at First Colonial High School. As a high school senior, she secured her 2nd and 3rd career Virginia High School State Championship titles, winning both the 100 and 200 free at the VHSAA Class 5 State Championships in February. She notched best times in both events en route to the win, touching in 50.35 in the 100 and 1:48.65 in the 200 free.
Her first individual state championship title came in the 100 free as a junior, where she clocked 51.26. That same season, she finished runner-up in the 200 free in 1:50.59.
About two weeks after those championships, Duffy competed at the Virginia Senior Championships, where she reset her own 200 free career best time in 1:48.57. Duffy also clocked best times in the 50 free in 23.44 as the leadoff leg of the 200 free relay, and swam her fastest ever 500 free of her career in 4:54.28.
In addition to those times, Duffy also holds some distance free skill, including a 1000 free best of 10:30.07 from the 2023 VSI Senior Championships, and a 1650 best of 18:01.03 from 2022.

Comparing Duffy’s times to this past SEC Championships, she would have finished 38th in the 200 free, 44th in the 500 free, and 54th in the 100 free at those championships.
Duffy is a freestyler through and through, though she still sits outside of the scoring range that LSU needs to make their move up in the conference standings.
LSU was acceptable in the 100, 200, and 500 freestyles last season, scoring 26 points in the 100 free, 24 in the 200 free, and 24 in the 500 free. Those totals were each sort of around the middle to upper-middle of the pack in points per event at SECs.
Duffy has proven that she can win and swim good times when it matters, and with college coaching and a slew of high-level opponents, Duffy could make her way into scoring points sooner rather than later.
Duffy joins Lucijana Lukšić, Ieva Visockaite, Sophie Benn, and Ava Ward in the LSU 2026 recruiting class.
