LIMA, N.Y. — A raccoon has tested positive for rabies in the Town of Lima, according to the Livingston County Public Health Director.
The health department says the raccoon was at Camp Lima during the German Festival on Sunday. They say one person was potentially exposed to the virus by this raccoon and will get treatment to prevent infection.
The raccoon was believed to be a nursing mother, the health department says. The county asks anyone who had direct contact recently with a raccoon, a raccoon kit at Camp Lima or surrounding areas should contact the county health department.
On June 2, the health department reported that a raccoon tested positive for rabies in Springwater.

Recently, Wayne County has had three positive rabies cases. The first two were a domestic cat and a raccoon in the Lyons and Sodus area.
