GREECE, N.Y. — Neighbors near the Studio Six Extended Stay on Center Place Drive are raising concerns about ongoing disturbances at the motel.

News10NBC’s Declan Stablow spoke with people who live nearby and said they often see and hear police cars, fire trucks and people arguing coming from the motel near Route 390 and West Ridge Road. Town officials said the issues ranged from basic code enforcement to safety concerns but didn’t name any specifics.

David Andolina didn’t want to show his face but lives nearby and said he sees some type of first responder scene at the hotel a few times a month.

“That can be bothersome if it gets loud and rambunctious. And, you know, I work from home, so I can hear pretty much everything all day,” Andolina said.

Last month the town of Greece said it was working with the hotel to resolve its code issues. The town said progress has been slow.

The town is holding a public hearing Thursday to determine whether the hotel will be allowed to stay open. Karen Tarajos, who lives nearby, didn’t want to show her face but said it’s scary living next to the hotel with police there so often.

“I don’t sleep with my window open because of the fact that I don’t feel safe with them next door,” Tarajos said.

Town Board Member Spencer Bernard is concerned that the town is devoting too many resources to the hotel. Bernard said Greece police is there “far too often.”

Another neighbor who asked to keep her face and name hidden said it’s frustrating living next to the hotel.

“At times there’s like a lot of arguing outside. People driving their cars late at night in the parking lot with the bass going really loud, waking me up like at all hours of the night. It’s just it’s crazy,” the neighbor said.

Stablow tried asking the person at the front desk for comment, but he referred him to the Motel 6 website. Stablow reached out to the number listed on Motel Six’s website as a media contact, but that took him to a customer incident hotline. He also sent Motel 6 a message through their website but hasn’t heard back yet.

The town of Greece said a new owner bought the property in March. The public hearing is Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Greece Town Hall, and the town said the hotel owner will be there.
