BATAVIA, N.Y. — As the school year ends and summer begins, the City of Batavia Police department is issuing a curfew reminder.

The city code states that children under 16 aren’t allowed in public places between 10 p.m. and sunrise, and 11 p.m. and sunrise on Fridays and Saturdays. unless accompanied by a parent, guardian, or authorized adult. 

Police say if a child is found to be in violation of the curfew regulations, the child will be taken to the police station. They say any child taken into custody will be confined expect in accordance with the provisions of the Family Court Act.

Parents are responsible for ensuring compliance and will be notified if a child violates the curfew, according to police.
