The Chicago Bears are done with their offseason workouts, but that doesn’t mean all is quiet at Halas Hall. General Manager Ryan Poles and the rest of the front office figure to be busy in the weeks between the end of June’s mandatory minicamp practices and the start of training camp in July. And while there might not be a big splash on the horizon, the roster churn continues.
Two Bears-related news items dropped this afternoon. We can begin with the reported signing of linebacker Tony Fields:

PFN’s James Larsen shares the news from Michael Del Negro about the Bears’ reported signing of linebacker Tony Fields.
A fifth-round pick (153rd overall) by the Cleveland Browns in the 2021 NFL Draft, Fields hasn’t played a down in an NFL game since 2024. And when he did, he played more on special teams (783 snaps) than he did on defense (526). However, the 26-year-old linebacker is coming off a successful stint with the UFL’s Cleveland Aviators. Fields collected 77 total tackles, five tackles-for-loss, and one sack in 10 games en route to earning All-UFL honors. Springtime football might not be on everyone’s radar, but Fields did something to stand out and earn a look from Chicago’s front office.

Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn ImagesElsewhere, NFL reporter Aaron Wilson reports (via Twitter/X) that the Bears hosted wide receiver Kristian Wilkerson for a tryout on Monday. Wilkerson, 29, has nine games of experience over four seasons with the New England Patriots (2020-21) and Las Vegas Raiders (2023-24). He has just six catches and 60 receiving yards to his name. But for what it’s worth, three of those six grabs have resulted in touchdowns. I’m not a mathematician, but that seems like a good ratio to me.

It is worth underscoring here that the Bears’ 90-player offseason roster is full. So, in order to add Fields to the roster, someone has to be moved off. With that in mind, we will monitor the waiver and transaction wires to see what a potential corresponding move will be for Chicago’s football team.
