The Russian frigate Admiral Kasatonov, belonging to the Russian Northern Fleet, arrived at the main naval base in Alexandria in northern Egypt, for an official friendly visit, RT reported on Sunday.
The Chargé d’Affaires of the Russian Embassy in Egypt, Yuri Matveyev, accompanied by the Russian Military Attaché, Major General Sergei Krivoshin, visited the frigate and were received by the ship’s captain and senior officers.
Matveyev congratulated the crew on the occasion of Russia Day, celebrated annually on June 12, praising “the role of Russian sailors in protecting the security of the homeland and their contribution to strengthening the long-standing traditions of military cooperation between Russia and Egypt.”
The visit included an exchange of commemorative gifts between both sides, and the signing of the frigate’s guestbook by the chargé d’affaires and the military attaché.
This visit is part of a series of reciprocal naval visits that reflect the depth of the strategic partnership between the two countries.
