DOLGEVILLE, N.Y. — The Violet Festival has returned to Dolgeville after a year away.
The village is about 30 miles east of Utica. This year, the event features garage sales, a parade and food trucks, with the village covered in shades of purple.
After last year’s cancellation due to construction and fewer volunteers, organizers faced new challenges to bring the festival back.
“It feels good to be back this year is a little different for us just because of the work arounds we had to deal with local construction also having the year off, but it is exciting to be back,” said Crystal Napier, event organizer
Organizers have also added new events, including a kids’ basketball tournament and an open jam session on Sunday.
The festival is open through Sunday.
