Days after Vaibhav Sooryavanshi earned his maiden India call-up, he has another reason to be happy about and this time it is his 10-year-old sibling. The 15-year-old’s younger brother Aashirwad Sooryavanshi scored his maiden hundred in a practice game, showing glimpses of his elder sibling. Sooryavanshi created history recently by becoming the youngest player to get a Team India call-up, beating Sachin Tendulkar’s record. Well, after looking at Aashirwad’s scoreboard, it looks like it won’t be long before the world gets to witness yet another Sooryavanshi shine at a young age.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s brother hammers ton
Aashirwad, who played for Cricket Academy Tajpur, slammed 103 runs off 87 deliveries. The 10-year-old smacked 20 fours and one six en route to his first-ever hundred and played at a strike rate of 118.39. At the time of the younger Sooryavanshi breaching the triple-figure mark, his team Tajpur had already amassed 234/4 in 29.5 overs. An ecstatic Vaibhav took to social media platform Instagram to congratulate his younger brother.
Sooryavanshi is currently a part of the India A squad in the tri-series against Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A. After failing to fire against SL-A in the first game, the 15-year-old slammed 44 runs off 22 deliveries against AFG-A in the next match. Following this series, Vaibhav will link up with the senior side for the series against Ireland and England, where he is expected to make his international debut.
Sooryavanshi is no stranger to playing on foreign pitches, having being a part of the India U19 side which has played various tournaments on foreign soil. However, this is the first time that he will be a part of the senior team, which poses bigger challenges. While he has showcased his ability to take on world-class bowlers in the IPL, the challenge of facing them in the UK and Ireland is quite different, for the surfaces completely vary from what they are in India.
Vaibhav, who has witnessed a meteoric rise over the last couple of years, emerged as the Orange Cap winner 776 runs in IPL 2026. He also surpassed Chris Gaye’s record for scoring the most sixes in an IPL season. He played a key role in India’s triumph in the U19 World Cup, having slammed a century in the final.
