European Junior Championships qualifier Arian Kadić has announced his commitment to swim for Wayne State University in Michigan beginning in the fall of 2026.
“With great pleasure, I would like to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at Wayne State University. I would like to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this journey, especially my family, my home club, and my friends. I would also like to thank coaches Sean and Gloria for believing in me and giving me this incredible opportunity. I can’t wait to join the team and contribute to new successes and victories. Go Warriors!”
Hailing from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kadić currently trains with P.K. Sporttime Sarajevo, where he excels at all four strokes. Last summer, he competed at the 2025 LEN European Junior Championships (LCM), turning in strong performances in his two individual events. He placed 29th in the 200 breast (2:18.66 – PB) and 50th in the 50 breast (29.62 – PB).
More recently, Kadić raced at the 2026 Swim Wars (LCM) in April, where he logged personal best times in three events. He won the 50 fly (24.87 – PB) and placed 2nd in the 50 free (23.49 – PB), 4th in the 50 back (27.15 – PB), 5th in the 400 free (4:10.13) and 8th in the 50 breast (29.83). He also contested the 200 free (1:59.05) but opted out of a second swim in that event.
Kadić continued to deliver in fast swims at the Banja Luka Open (LCM) in May, posting lifetime best performances in the 100 free (50.80) and 50 breast (29.46). He also contested the 50 free (23.61) and 50 fly (24.81).
A strong competitor in the short course meters discipline, Kadić posted lifetime best performances in five events at the 2025 BIH Open Championships (SCM) back in November. He emerged victorious in the 400 free (3:57.74 – PB), 100 IM (56.93 – PB), 200 IM (2:03.93) and 400 IM (4:24.44 – PB) and placed 3rd in the 50 back (27.17) and 4th in the 50 free (23.24 – PB). Kadić also took the runner-up spot in the 100 free in 50.50 after setting a personal best time of 50.49 during prelims. A week prior, he logged personal best times of 28.82 in the 50 breast and 2:03.33 in the 200 IM at the 53rd International Swimming Meeting in Croatia.
Kadić also holds personal best times in the 100 free (50.33) and 200 free (1:49.62) from November 2025, while he posted his lifetime bests in the 100 back (58.74) and 100 breast (1:01.73) during the 2024-2025 short course season.
Best Times LCM/SCM (Fastest SCY Time Conversion)

The Warriors sent eight athletes to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division II Championships, where they placed 14th overall.
Based on the results from the 2026 GLIAC Championships and his top converted times, Kadić would have landed in the ‘A’ final in the 100 free, 200 free, 500 free and 100 breast and the ‘B’ final in the 200 IM, giving him plenty of opportunities to score points for the team.
On the team itself, Kadić is poised to be Warriors’ fastest competitor in the 100 breast and rank 2nd in the 50 free and 100 free, 3rd in the 200 free and 100 fly and 4th in the 500 free and 200 IM this past season, setting him up to be a key contributor, although that does not account for the other incoming freshmen.
Set to join Kadić in Detroit in the fall are Enzo Pontel Cunha from Brazil (breast/free/IM) and Austin Pursley from Michigan (breast/fly/IM), who should both make for strong training partners over the next four years.
