ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Yellow Alert continues Thursday evening for a Heat Advisory, along with some strong to severe thunderstorms. The heat index reached into the mid 90s, with dew points in the upper 60s and lower 70s, and air temperatures in the low 90s. The biggest heat is done for the day as some rain and storms have been moving in. A few severe storms with gusty winds will continue to pass through our area through about 6PM, then move out. Our Yellow Alert will expire by 7PM, with the biggest heat and humidity out of here, along with storms ending.
Thursday night will remain mild and muggy, with temperatures near 70 for a morning low Friday. The morning hours will be warm and humid, with temperatures near 80. But a cold front swinging through late morning will cap our temperatures near 80. The most noticeable impact from the cold front will be a drop in humidity! Dew points will start near 70, but end near 60, which will make Friday evening much more comfortable. The wind will tend to pick up a bit, with some gusts near 35 mph along and behind the front, but we expect much of the day to be dry.
The weekend starts off beautifully, with sunshine, comfortable humidity levels and plenty of sunshine. Saturday will definitely be the winner of the weekend, with rain and possible storms returning on Sunday. Much of next week will feature much cooler than average temperatures much of the week.
