ARLINGTON COUNTY — Emergency crews responded to the Pentagon on Thursday morning for what authorities are calling a “hazardous materials incident.”
NBC News says Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell confirmed that “sophisticated systems” had “detected an air quality issue necessitating precautionary measures until we determine its significance.”
The affected area is in a shelter-in-place, Parnell says.
On X, the Arlington County Fire Department posted units, including its Hazardous Materials Team, is operating at the Pentagon for a hazardous materials incident.
