A brush fire has burned dozens of acres at Camp Pendleton, prompting evacuations of two golf courses and warnings for residents.
The 75-acre blaze is spreading south toward Oceanside. The November Fire broke out shortly after 10 a.m. near Marine Memorial Golf Course, which was evacuated. Oceanside police also said the city’s municipal golf course has been evacuated.
A temporary evacuation center has been set up at El Camino High School, 400 Rancho Del Oro Drive, after evacuation warnings were issued in some northern parts of the city.
Evacuation warnings apply to residents in zones SDC-0429, SDC-0317 and SDC 0372. The areas are directly south of the Marine base, bounded roughly by state route 76 on the southwest and, extending east, between Douglas Drive and Vandegrift Boulevard.
Smoke may be seen, but there was no fire threat to parts of the North County Fire Protection District, officials said in a social media post shortly before 10:30 a.m.
According to the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District, communities outside Camp Pendleton affected by the smoke include Oceanside, Bonsall and Fallbrook.
