Joliet police are investigating after multiple sports cars were either stolen or damaged in hotel parking lots on Monday morning.
According to police, officers were called to the parking lot of a Holiday Inn in the 1400 block of Rock Creek Boulevard at approximately 5:30 a.m.
When they arrived, they found broken glass on the ground, and three Chevrolet Corvettes and a Chevrolet Camaro were reported stolen.
Multiple other vehicles in the parking lot were also damaged, according to authorities.
A short time later, authorities discovered a Dodge Charger had also been damaged in the parking lot of a nearby Comfort inn, and police believe it was related to the other two incidents.
At least one of the vehicles was recovered after a crash in suburban Dolton, but no suspects were taken into custody.
According to the police press release, the vehicles were participating in the 2026 Hot Rod Power Tour. This year’s event, according to a Facebook page, is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the opening of Route 66, and drivers are encouraged to share photos, route information and other ideas on the group’s social media feeds.
