BUFFALO, N.Y. — Rochester Police say a man who fired at U.S. marshals in Buffalo is a person of interest in the death of Majesty Montgomery, the Rochester woman whose body was buried in Yates County.
The U.S. Marshals Task Force spoke about the shootout, which happened on Monday afternoon at a home on Glenwood Avenue in Buffalo. The task force said Keith Holmes, 30, began shooting as marshals were executing a warrant at the home. Later, RPD confirmed that Holmes was a person of interest.
Marshals say they returned fire and shot Holmes, who is hospitalized in critical condition. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Holmes was on federal supervised release at the time and prohibited from leaving the Rochester area. RPD’s Major Crimes Unit says Montgomery’s death is being investigated as a homicide. Officers found Montgomery’s body buried several feet underground in a wooded area in the Town of Starkey.
