The first season of Every Year After kicks off with the sad loss of their Sue (Elisha Cuthbert) and her sons coming together to plan her memorial service. In the process, they invite Percy (Sadie Soverall), who hasn't been back to Barry's Bay for a number of years – and has some unfinished business with her first love, Sam (Matt Cornett).
With the question of what Percy did lingering over the entire season, it becomes clear that it's all too much for Sam to forgive her for, with the status of their relationship ever murky by the end of the eighth episode. But one thing's for certain – Charlie (Michael Bradway) isn't in a good place and as the credits roll, his fate hangs in the balance.
But will there be a second season of Every Year After? Read on for everything we know so far.
Will there be an Every Year After season 2?
But we'd hazard a guess by the very fact that season 1 ended on such a major cliffhanger and the fact that the book series it's based on is hugely popular, that we'd be getting more episodes of the TV show.
Seeing as Every Year After hasn't actually been renewed for a second season, it's hard to assess just when a potential second instalment could be landing on screens.
If the show were to be renewed pretty soon, we'd imagine that it wouldn't be too much of a wait between seasons. The first season of Every Year After was filmed from June to September 2025 and was then released on Prime Video on 10 June 2026. So, if that green light comes soon and production kicks off swiftly, we could be looking at a 2027/2028 release.
Every Year After season 2 cast speculation
It seems likely due to the fact that showrunner Harris has intimated that the "blueprint" for season 2 may be Carley Fortune's One Golden Summer, which is seen as a companion sequel to Every Summer After, which the TV series is based on. The main difference is that One Golden Summer centres on Charlie's own love story and so, we would hope he would be returning for that.
One person that we likely won't be seeing (unless it's in flashbacks like season 1) is Sue (Elisha Cuthbert), Sam and Charlie's mother who passed away. The cast we'd expect to see in season 2 are as follows.
Sadie Soverall as PercyMatt Cornett as SamAurora Perrineau as ChantalAbigail Cowen as DelilahMichael Bradway as CharlieJoseph Chiu as JordieJuliette Hawk as Young PercyBlue Clarke as Young SamWhat could happen in a potential Every Year After season 2?
Seeing as he and Delilah (Abigail Cowen) were having their own passionate affair, we would've expected that to be blossoming with Delilah being newly single. But as we saw in the final episode of season 1, the pair were no longer together it seemed. It's certain that a season 2 would definitely have to pick back up from Charlie's heart attack in the office, when he spied a picture of a younger him, Sam and Percy on his boss's wall.
As for the other characters, Percy is back in Barry's Bay and is now managing Sue's tavern, after being left it in her will. Together with Delilah, it looks as though the family restaurant could go from strength to strength but what will Sam think? And will he ever forgive Percy?
"I really see this as a series, and it's why we built it the way we did so that we can come back and explore a lot more romance. We have lots more to say both about Percy and Sam's love story, but also about these other characters who hopefully people will come to love as much as they do Percy and Sam."
