Longtime fans of the author's popular beach reads were no doubt waiting with bated breath to see how Prime Video would tailor the decades-spanning relationship between Persephone “Percy” Foster (played by Sadie Soverall) and her first love Sam Florek (Matt Cornett) for the small screen. And after those eight drama-filled episodes—which followed the couple's adolescent courtship and later estrangement through two alternating timelines—viewers are no doubt just as eager for a second season, especially because there are plenty more Carley Fortune books to adapt.

Will there be an Every Year After Season 2?
"I see five seasons," Harris recently told Entertainment Weekly. "Obviously, there's another book that's connected to Barry's Bay that I think will be a very exciting blueprint for us for a potential season 2." That book is Fortune’s 2025 sequel novel One Golden Summer, which centers on Sam's older brother Charlie (Michael Bradway) and his journey finding love on the lake.
Even the show’s title change from the book series hints at more Barry’s Bay to come. “The thinking behind that was that Every Summer After was like too confining as a season for a series, and Every Year After allowed them to open this up to a broader story,” author Carley Fortune told Swooon.

However, we can look at the production of the first season for timing clues: Principal photography for the series began on June 4, 2025, in Vancouver, and concluded on September 18, 2025. It would take another nine months of post-production and promotion before the episodes hit Prime Video this June so we’re looking at summer 2027 at minimum but likely longer for a season two release.

However, fans of Sam and Percy’s love story—which was left a bit open-ended in the first season—will still get to follow their romance, if Harris has anything to say about it. "We have lots more to say both about Percy and Sam's love story, but also about these other characters who hopefully people will come to love as much as they do Percy and Sam,” she told EW.
