ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The world’s largest working steam train is making its way through Western New York as part of a cross-country tour celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

Union Pacific’s Number 4014, known as Big Boy, passed through Blasdell in Erie County on Tuesday and was on display near Buffalo Wednesday. The massive locomotive is scheduled to roll through the Rochester area on Thursday.

Big Boy is set to arrive in Silver Springs in Wyoming County at 11:45 a.m. Thursday and leave by noon. The train will then cross the Genesee River Arch Bridge at Letchworth State Park around 12:20 p.m.

The locomotive is scheduled to arrive at the Hornell Erie Depot Museum at 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
