Although wife Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) supported his alibi, saying that they were together on the night that Theo died, she now has doubts about his whereabouts and closeness to ex-partner Sarah Platt (Tina O'Brien).
Her suspicions grew today as she discovered he'd spent the morning in Sarah's company once again. Gary was fixing a set of drawers in the Underworld office, and Sean Tully (Antony Cotton) clocked Sarah pulling the blind down for privacy.
The mention of Theo's demise unnerved Gary, and with Kit just metres away, he had to stay calm.
As the episode came to an end, we were taken back to the scene of the crime. Gary stood on the scaffolding above Theo's body, wiping blood off a metal pole.
