Authorities have identified the suspect who was fatally shot by police after a shooting at a northwest suburban restaurant that left two people injured.
Jenry Guadalupe Custodio Casimiro, 44, of Carpentersville, was shot and killed on Saturday morning, according to the Kane County Coroner’s Office. According to the coroner’s office, an autopsy conducted on Monday determined Casimiro died from injuries consistent with multiple gunshot wounds.
Casimiro allegedly shot two people inside a restaurant near Kings Road and Illinois Route 205 after midnight on Saturday. State police said when officers arrived, they observed a suspect “actively shooting” at someone and opened fire, striking the suspect.
Casimiro was later pronounced dead.
Two victims were shot and taken to an area hospital. One victim was initially said to be in critical condition, while the other was listed in stable condition.
Footage captured by an NBC Chicago photojournalist showed police tape surrounding a shopping center including La Ilusion Restaurant & Bar, which appeared to be the center of the investigation.
Police said the incident was isolated and stemmed from a domestic violence situation.
No officers were injured.
