FAIRPORT, N.Y. — Fairport Canal Days ended on Sunday evening, but we covered a special event before it came to a close: the rubber Duck Race. It was held under the Fairport Lift Bridge.
“This year, we basically sold out. We did, just under 3,000 ducks were sold,” said Nancy Ragus, with the Fairport Canal Days advertising and marketing committee.
We asked where the proceeds of the race will go. “So the merchant association, who is behind our canal days event, are the ones who created this fund, and then when there’s an art installation available, we get requests from the committee, the Fairport Public Art Committee, and we’re really fortunate to be able to help, you know, bring some beautiful art to the village,” Ragus added.
We caught footage of the race. Canoe goers were seen paddling with ducks along the canal.
The grand prize in the race went to Josh Monroe.
