ROCHESTER, N.Y. -An upper-level ridge of high pressure will build across the great lakes, and New England states this week. This is a signature in the weather pattern for much warmer temperatures. If you consider that the typical high temperature for this time of the year in the upper 70s, the News10NBC First Alert meteorologists expect the mercury will be running some ten to fifteen degrees warmer making feel more like the middle of July. This warmer weather will be matched by increasing amounts of humidity as the dew point will also rise into the low to middle 70s. The combination of the two ingredients will make it feel tropical for Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
Tonight, look for skies to become mainly clear and the low temperature will be in the middle 50s. Monday will feature plenty of bright sunshine as the temperature will rise to within a few degrees of 80. It should still be comfortable as the humidity will still be rather low.
On Tuesday, with partial sunshine, the temperature will rise into the upper 80s. In addition, the humidity will rise sharply by later in the day. Watch for the chance of a few passing showers and thundershowers for the afternoon.
On Wednesday and Thursday, air conditioning will be needed with lots of heat and humidity expected. On both days the temperature will be in the upper 80s to 90 degrees. It should be noted that with heating of the day a few showers and thunderstorms are expected. At this time, these look like “garden variety” type thundershowers, so the News10NBC Threat Tracker is green – for now. However, it is recommended to check back with News10NBC as new forecasting data becomes available.
