The MorningBlues VWS X1 combines detachable OLED displays, impressive audio quality, long battery life, and extensive customization to create one of the most distinctive wireless headphones available today.

MorningBlues is a newer audio tech company that’s trying to mix fashion, music, and technology into one product instead of making “normal” headphones. Their MorningBlues Headphones VWS X1 stand out because they have detachable OLED screens on the sides that let you display pictures, videos, text, animations, and even QR codes, which makes them feel more like wearable tech or a streetwear accessory than just a pair of headphones. They also focus heavily on customization through their app while still packing in premium audio features like noise canceling, Bluetooth 5.4, long battery life, Qualcomm-powered audio hardware, and Jamo-tuned drivers for a clearer and more balanced sound experience. Overall, the company is aimed at people who want their headphones to look unique and grab attention while still sounding good for music, gaming, and everyday use.

Features

The MorningBlues VWS X1 headphones combine customizable technology with premium audio features to create a really unique listening experience. They feature dynamic OLED displays on each side that let you show custom photos, preset designs, animations, videos, and even a flashlight mode. Built-in NFC sharing also allows you to instantly share social profiles or contact information with a simple tap, which is a pretty cool feature for events or meeting people. Through the MorningBlues app, users can fully customize their experience by adjusting EQ settings, creating personalized poster designs, and setting carousel display effects for the screens.

Powered by Jamo acoustic technology and Qualcomm Audio, the headphones deliver clear vocals, balanced bass, and stable playback with three listening modes including Normal, Transparency, and Active Noise Cancellation to match different environments. The VWS X1 also offers impressive battery life with up to 60 hours of headphone playback and up to 9 hours on the OLED displays, while the multifunction charging case provides several additional recharges and can even work as a portable power bank for other devices. Combined with a lightweight and comfortable design plus reliable Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity with up to 30 meters of range, these headphones are designed for both everyday listening and standing out from the crowd.

Unboxing and Setup

Inside the box you will find a really nice hard vinyl carrying case that honestly feels very premium and high quality. Inside the case are the headphones themselves, the charging case for the OLED screens, decorative magnetic plastic covers for the headphone slots when the screens are removed, and a dedicated storage area for the included USB-C to USB-C cable. I started out by plugging in both the headphones and the charging case to fully charge them before setup.

First impressions were honestly really good. The headphones feel extremely well made and high quality right out of the box. When I opened the charging case, the OLED screens immediately lit up to show the battery level. The displays are bright, vibrant, and really stand out in person. After letting everything charge for about two hours, both the headphones and the screen case were fully charged and ready to go.

I then downloaded the MorningBlues app from the App Store, which is where all of the screen customization and headphone settings are handled. Setup itself was pretty simple and straightforward, but the app definitely feels a little buggy at times and could use some improvements with stability and responsiveness.

Overall Use

Now there are a few things I really want to focus on here, and the headphones themselves are the first. These headphones honestly sound amazing. There is a really good amount of bass and treble, and both can be adjusted within the app using the EQ settings. Music sounds clear, vocals come through nicely, and overall, they have a balanced sound while still having enough bass to make music enjoyable. I also did not notice any audio delay while watching videos or gaming which is great. Microphone quality was also perfectly fine for calls and voice chats and sounded about on par with what most people would need from a wireless headset.

They are also very comfortable on my head even after wearing them for hours at a time, which is something I noticed pretty quickly during longer listening sessions. The battery life is fantastic as well and takes a long time to discharge.

Switching between noise cancellation, transparency mode, and off is done with a button on the side of the headphones. One small issue I had is that there are two different buttons, one on each ear cup, and since they both do different things, I would sometimes accidentally press the wrong one thinking it was the mode switch button.

Now when it comes to ANC, this is probably one of the weaker areas of these headphones. My baseline for ANC is usually airplane noise because most premium headphones I have used completely block out the sound of the plane once ANC is enabled. With the VWS X1 I could still hear the plane pretty clearly even with ANC turned on. That being said, the ANC still works decently for more moderate background noise and definitely helps in quieter environments. Transparency mode actually worked very well and sounded natural, although I still would not say it is the best transparency mode I have used compared to some higher-end competitors.

In the app you also have the option to turn off wear detection for the headphones. At first, I kept this turned on because I normally like this feature, but for some reason it was not working correctly on my unit. I wore these headphones for around four hours total on two flights to and from Atlanta, and whenever I would turn my head to the left the headphones would randomly pause my media. Once I moved my head back straight again, the media would start playing again. This became pretty annoying after a while, so I eventually turned the feature off completely. I am glad they give you the option to disable it, and hopefully this is something that can be corrected later with a software update.

As far as the OLED screens go, all of the setup and customization is handled through the app. There are some built-in presets already included, but to really use the screens to their full potential you definitely need the app. Within the app you can browse through a large amount of presets, and you can also upload and sync up to 20 images, GIFs, or videos to each screen. One thing I noticed is that there is currently no easy option to have both screens display the exact same media at the same time unless you manually upload all of the same content separately to each screen.

Uploading media to the screens is probably my biggest complaint. Every time you sync a new image, GIF, or video it takes around 30 to 60 seconds to transfer. That does not sound like a long time at first, but when you are uploading multiple files across both screens it starts to take quite a while. Switching between the left and right screen in the app also has a short loading process each time, which again takes around 30 to 60 seconds. I am honestly not sure why it takes so long, and I feel like this is something that could definitely be improved in future app updates.

One really cool thing though is that the OLED screens are not locked to one specific side. You can actually move them between either ear cup depending on how you want them set up. Each screen also has its own dedicated power button on the back which lets you quickly turn the displays on or off whenever you want. You can also adjust brightness settings directly through the app or on the screen itself depending on battery life or lighting conditions.

There are even media controls built directly into the screens themselves that can supposedly be accessed by swiping down on the displays. Unfortunately, this feature never seemed to work correctly for me no matter how many times I tried it.

Another really nice design choice is that when you remove the OLED screens you can replace them with the included decorative magnetic plastic covers. This is a cool touch because it lets you still use the headphones normally even if you do not want the displays attached all the time. The magnetic system itself feels strong and secure when attaching both the screens and covers.

One concern I do have though is durability for the OLED screens themselves. They really do not have much drop protection at all. The outer edge around the screens is metal, so if you accidentally dropped one of them, I would honestly be worried about it cracking or getting damaged pretty easily. I think adding some kind of rubber ring or protective bumper around the edges would help a lot and make them feel safer to swap around while traveling or using them on the go.

While using them on the plane I noticed a lot of people looking at them because they definitely draw attention. This is a very unique looking pair of headphones and they stand out a lot compared to traditional headphones.

After around two hours of use on the flight, the OLED screens were still sitting around 70% battery. This was mostly with the brightness set fairly high until it started getting dark, at which point I lowered it to the lowest brightness setting. I also had the displays set to rotate between all of my uploaded presets every two minutes, so the screens were constantly active during use.

Conclusion

Overall, I think the MorningBlues VWS X1 headphones are a really interesting and unique product that does a great job combining fashion, technology, and audio into one package. The OLED screens are easily the standout feature and definitely make these headphones feel different from almost anything else currently on the market. Everywhere I used them, especially while traveling, they drew attention and started conversations because people genuinely wanted to know what they were. The ability to customize the screens with photos, GIFs, videos, and animations makes them feel a lot more personal than traditional headphones.

What surprised me the most though was honestly the sound quality. Going into this I expected the screens to be more of a gimmick and for the audio to be average, but the headphones actually sound very good. The bass is strong, vocals are clear, there is no noticeable audio delay, and overall, they are enjoyable for both music and gaming. Battery life was also impressive on both the headphones and the OLED displays.

That being said, there are definitely some areas that could use improvement. The app still feels buggy at times and some features, like the swipe-down media controls on the OLED screens, never worked properly for me. Uploading media to the screens also takes longer than it probably should. ANC performance was another weaker point for me, especially compared to more premium competitors that block out airplane noise much better. I would also really like to see some added drop protection around the OLED screens themselves because they feel somewhat fragile when removed from the headphones. Another thing that would make these even better would be a folding design. Since the headphones do not fold down, they take up more space while traveling even though the included hard vinyl carrying case does feel premium and protective.

At the end of the day, these are not headphones for someone who just wants a basic pair of wireless headphones. These are for people who want something different, customizable, and attention-grabbing while still having genuinely solid sound quality behind all of the extra technology. If MorningBlues continues improving the app experience and refines some of the smaller issues through updates or future hardware revisions, I think they could have something really special here.
