Texas has gone back-to-back! The Longhorns repeated as national champions on Thursday night, defeating Texas Tech 4-1 to win the Women’s College World Series. The Longhorns won the WCWS Finals with a 2-game sweep.
Mike White turned to Citlaly Gutierrez as his starter for Game 2. Gutierrez went 4.1 innings, allowing 1 earned run on 3 hits, striking out 3 and walking 1.
Wells also logged time on the mound, but in the bottom of the 6th inning, it was time for Teagan Kavan. Kavan was sensational on Thursday night, striking out 5 of her 6 batters faced over 2 shutout, no-hit innings in relief to secure the decisive victory.

Toney’s throwing error allowed Jaycie Nichols to keep going, and also score on the play. The costly error gave Texas a 2-1 lead.
