Plans for a £640m regeneration of a key site in Slough town have been submitted to the local authority by developer Muse and Homes England.
The proposed North West Quadrant (NWQ) project would see a 3.6ha area, formerly occupied by Thames Valley University, redeveloped into a new residential and commercial neighbourhood.

The application outlines the delivery of approximately 1,500 new homes, an office building, and 3,000m² of space for shops and cafés.
Plans also include a nursery for 100 children, a major community event area, and multiple green spaces, alongside improved routes for walking and cycling. There will be 415 parking spaces for residents and visitors.
According to the submission, the scheme is expected to be built in phases, subject to planning approval.
Detailed plans have been presented for the first two plots, comprising 473 Build-to-Rent apartments and 325 Co-Living homes.
These initial phases would also introduce around 800m² of ground-floor commercial space, including a gym and café, along with approximately 240m² of retail.
Muse development director Chris Scott described the planning application as “a significant milestone for North West Quadrant and for the economic transformation of Slough town centre”.
“The project plays a key role in the town centre’s regeneration and supports Slough Borough Council’s long-term vision for growth, alongside other key town centre development projects,” Scott said.
Muse is engaged on the project in partnership with Homes England, which acquired the NWQ site from Slough Borough Council in 2023.
Prior to this project, the company delivered several other developments in the town through a venture with the council, including the Curve, Slough Ice Arena, the Centre, the Moxy Hotel and over 500 new homes.
